My name is Lisa Macy, and I hope to share with all of you not only a little about me, but about all the great things I have learned and am still learning in my studies, in hopes of helping you reach your overall health goals.
I have always had a bit of an issue being a smidge overweight, but then I got to be more than a smidge overweight in my late 20’s/early 30’s and started developing some health issues (high blood pressure, extremely severe acid reflux). I tried to make what I thought were decent nutrition choices, but I really wasn’t doing a great job at that because I really didn’t know enough about nutrition to know what choices I really should be making. I just did things I thought were right. I also didn’t exercise, and never had. I did what everyone else does, I downed the prescriptions and just keep doing what I thought I was supposed to be doing, not really paying attention to the fact that I was suppressing symptoms and not getting to the root of the cause, which is hugely impart to improper nutrition and lack of exercise. During our late 20’s, early 30’s, my hubby and I both did a weight loss program and lost all the weight, but then we eventually gained it all back because they really don’t teach you proper whole food nutrition.
In 2006 my hubby’s job put us in a position to become full time RVers because his job takes us all over the country to stay in different places for a few months to a year or so at a time. Anyway, we were both still not eating as healthy as we should. We were still taking prescriptions, not exercising and still not losing weight. When I was a kid, all I ever wanted to do was be in the medical field so that I could help people. Well, God had other plans. I met my hubby at the ripe old age of 17, got married and didn’t go to college. I felt that God apparently didn’t want me to be in the “medical” field since he introduced me to the love of my life (yes, we’re still married 🙂 ). I think that God wanted me to learn how to help people in a more natural approach. The reason I think this, is because He put the opportunity to go to school in my lap at a point in my life that it was a perfect fit, so I, of course, took Him up on it. In 2008, I decided I’d had enough of being unhealthy, and started going to school. I completed my Nutrition Consultant Certificate in 2009, my Master Herbalist Certificate in 2010, and my Holistic Health Practitioner Certificate in 2011. I am currently working on a duel degree BS/MS in Nutrition and Natural Health. I’ve also taken classes on multiple complementary modalities, such as Aromatherapy, Crystal Healing and Reiki.
Once I got started learning about nutrition, I decided that I can’t help others until I can fix myself. So I became my first client. It took me two full years (my 25th wedding anniversary in August of 2010 was my goal) to lose from 197 lbs., down to 137 lbs., by changing my eating habits and exercising regularly (IN my motorhome! which is a pretty small space!). I was also able to quit taking my prescriptions for high blood pressure and acid reflux. Since 2010, I have gained back 25 lbs, that I’m currently working on getting rid of, but I’m a work in progress. I am NOT perfect and it can be very difficult to eat right all the time when you not only travel and live like we do, but also when your hubby is a very VERY picky eater and isn’t going to stop eating all the bad stuff. He is eating less of it though and is trying to do better. He does pretty much eat whatever I fix for dinner, but when he’s not at home, he doesn’t make as healthy a choice as he could. He’s convinced he is a carnivore and I can’t convince him otherwise. ha Oh well, he is trying to do better, and it takes baby steps to get to your goals sometimes. Since he does like to eat meat way more than I do, I do make the healthiest choices I can at the grocery store for him (organic, GMO free etc.). Lots of organic veggies and fruits too. Like I said, work in progress and baby steps. 🙂 It’s never too late to get back on track or go for that goal! Since we travel to so many places, sometimes two or three different areas in a year, I can’t really join a gym, so I utilize my DVD player with lots of different workouts. I have tried tons of them over the years, and like quite a few different ones. I feel healthier now that I think I ever have, and I’m definitely getting into the best shape of my life! And being that I’m now a part of the 50’s club, that is a great accomplishment to me! 🙂

UPDATE: Feb 2016 – Hi everybody! Since I started my blog, a lot has happened in my life. To start, I had major back surgery in April 2014, my mother-in-law had a liver transplant in May 2014, my mom went into a coma in June of 2014 and passed away in October of 2014, spent a few months cleaning out her house after that. My life became rather chaotic, and my studies have been on the back burner, as has my blog and everything else in my world. I had more surgery in May 2015, this time on my sacroiliac joint, and now it’s February 2016 and I’m just starting to get back into some kind of routine again. I have tried multiple times to get back to exercising, to no avail. My back wouldn’t let me, then my sacroiliac wouldn’t let me. Sooo, I have a new exercise DVD coming tomorrow (hopefully) that I’m hoping my body will be agreeable to letting me do. Fingers crossed! So, that’s the latest and greatest in my life. Hoping the rest of the year continues to improve! 🙂
UPDATE: May 2016 – Hi y’all! 😀 I have recently started studying Reiki as another way of being able to help others. I have been fascinated by it since first learning what it was during my HHP studies. Recently it has become more than a fascination, it’s become more of a calling. I was told by multiple Reiki Master’s and have read in several books that this is what typically happens. You’re called to do it. So, after praying about it and talking to different Reiki Masters, I chose to start Reiki classes. I am currently certified as a Reiki II practitioner, and hope to continue my studies through to Reiki Master and beyond. It’s a very exciting time for me!
UPDATE: September 2016 – Hi everybody! Well, as you know I studied Reiki earlier in the year. I finished my studies all the way through to Reiki Master, but it will take a long time to truly become a Master, so I choose for now to just be called a Reiki Practitioner. 😉 Since then I have also studied Animal Reiki too! During my earlier Reiki studies we touched on crystals and how the energy from crystals can help in the healing process, which I thought was pretty cool at the time, but over the last few months it became a huge yearning to learn more, so I am currently studying to become a Certified Crystal Healer which I hope to finish before Thanksgiving. I’ve always excelled at and loved science, so it’s super interesting and I’m loving learning about crystals!
UPDATE: November 2016 – Hi everybody! Well I did it! I’m officially a Certified Crystal Healer!!
UPDATE: March 2017 – I have started taking classes to become an Aromatherapist! It will be a great complimentary addition to the other modalities that use and also great as a stand alone!
UPDATE: August 2017 – I am officially a Certified Aromatherapist! I have also stepped into another level of Reiki called Karuna Ki and hope to continue learning new levels as I’m called to. One day I hope to be a Reiki Grand Master.
