Homemade Bug Spray

Happy Wednesday everybody!

Today I want to share a recipe for making home made bug spray that’s chemical free…..

You will need:

2 oz of either Frankincense hydrosol OR filtered water

16 drops of Patchouli Essential Oil

10 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil

4 drops Spikenard Essential Oil

That’s it!  Pour hydrosol OR water into 2 oz. glass spray bottle, add all the drops, put the lid on, make a label and presto, you’re done!  Took all of 3 1/2 minutes to make!

Here’s a video I made for it…..

There are other essential oils you can try instead of these, like eucalyptus, opopanax, juniper and you can also use peppermint hydrosol instead of frankincense.  This recipe is just one of many ways to utilize ways to use essential oils!

Until next time!  Have a happy healthy day!!! 🙂

I feel a customer service rant coming on…..

Hey everybody!  I realllllly hope your day has been better than ours!  We have just moved to our next adventure destination (honey bunny’s job has us traveling) for the rest of the year, soooo we had to call the satellite company to set us up on the ground, because the “fixed” one on top of the motorhome won’t pick up and since we can’t move it around, we can’t find an open space for it.  ANYWAY, I called the company two days ago, they set us up for an appointment between 12-4.  The technician called us a bit after 11, said he was ahead of schedule, could he go ahead and come out.  That sounded like good news……at the time.  He showed up about 12:30, looked around a few minutes, said “sorry” I can’t help you, I’ll call another tech.  Well, hello, there are two dishes within a few feet of us, with the SAME company we use, and you can’t set one up?  Really?  Come on now, don’t give me that.  I don’t think he even wanted to try.  He said the other tech would be here in about an hour.  Several hours passed, I went to the “online chat” area, told a rep the issue, they said someone would be contacting us.  Three more hours go by, stillllll nothing.  I went to “online chat” again.  They said someone was on the way and would be calling within 30 minutes.  That was almost 2 1/2 hours ago, still no one here, still no phone call.  I called the company AGAIN.  Finally got someone that is at least on the east coast, and now we’re set up for 3 days from now!  We’ll see if anyone actually shows up.  I’m so frustrated!  We have been with this company for 20 years and have NEVER had an issue like this before.  Their customer service is usually top notch, but apparently people here don’t care about work ethics, helping people, or the concept of time.  There are only a few things on my pet peeve list……one is being lied to.  Do NOT lie to me!  I might get my feelings hurt, but I’ll get over that.  You lie?  I won’t trust you anymore…EVER.  Which would you prefer?  The other issue is respect/common courtesy…..if you say you’re going to do something, do it.  If you can’t, then let the person know!  If you’re going to be late, then call, text, email.  SOMETHING!  Don’t just let it go!  That’s rude, inconsiderate, disrespectful and just downright wrong!!!!  People have more important things to do than sit around and wait all day for you to decide to NOT show up!  UGH……..  I have been soooo very patient today, and tried soooo hard to be nice and understanding, but after alllll these hours of nothing I’m worn out and unhappy……

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day…..

Until next time, I hope YOU have a great day!  🙂

What is Crystal Healing?

Hi y’all!  Happy Monday!

Some of y’all have probably noticed that I have added another certification this last year.  I became a Certified Crystal Healer in early November and plan to study more about crystals and crystal healing later this year to upgrade my certification to Advanced Crystal Master.

You may be wondering what a crystal healing session is, so I’m going to try and tell you a little more about it to help you to understand a bit more about is:

  • A bit like a spa treatment in that it can be deeply relaxing and rejuvenating
  • Clothing stays on, but shoes can be removed to be more relaxed and comfy
  • Minimal contact (placement and removal of crystals/stones only)
  • Session goals can include energy realignment, removal of blocked energy – these allow for healing and spiritual growth.  Different crystals have different energies that work by taking our out of balance energy and entraining it back into balance.  Depending on what is out of balance, I will choose a particular crystal to work with to bring what is out of balance, back into balance by placing a crystal in the area that needs work.
  • Energetic imbalances can cause ailments and/or emotional issues that balancing energies can assist in helping.
  • Promotes good health and energetic balance

These are just a few things to help give you an idea of what to expect in a session.  Many people fall asleep and awaken feeling energized!  I can also include Reiki during a session which to me is an added energy lift, as it goes where it’s needed most and is a wonderful extra layer of energy therapy.

Right now I’m only able to offer distance sessions due to travels, but energy therapy such as Crystal Healing and Reiki know no boundaries and work very well whether you’re there in person or not.

Here is an article that can help explain a bit more about distance healing…..

My hubby can attest to distance healing, as I work on him pretty often while he’s at work.

I hope this helps explain a bit more about Crystal Healing and I hope you will try it!  It’s amazing!!!!

Until next time!  Have a happy healthy day!!! 🙂

Warm Blooded or Cold-Blooded?

This is another great post that I’m re-blogging that I hope you’ll take the time to read and ponder.

And remember, just because other people do things doesn’t mean you have to.  Always do what is right even if you are standing alone.  It may be hard, but it’s better to do the right thing and be alone than follow others that are doing wrong…..

On My Heart

Every spring I think about this. As the weather turns warmer and we start seeing the trees’ new growth and leaves, we also start seeing creatures that have been sluggish, dormant, or in hibernation. They are cold-blooded animals. They draw their heat from their surroundings. Next time you’re raking old leaves in the corner of your backyard and you feel the warmth of that leaf pile on your ankles, remember that a dormant snake may also enjoy the warmth of that pile!

Snakes, lizards, bass (BASS!!!) and all kinds of reptiles awake from their winter dormancy or lethargy and become active as the sun warms their surroundings. Literally, their surroundings define their metabolism and activity.

Mammals are warm-blooded animals.  They operate from an internal generator of warmth.  They can be affected by their environment, but they depend on internal sources for metabolism.  Humans, in particular, respond to the environment but…

Ready, Fire, Aim?

Take the time to read this blog I’m re-blogging, and then think about it a while, and then maybe implement it too. 😉

On My Heart

Three years ago I sought helpful counsel about a frustration with myself.  I needed someone who was not invested to give me an honest assessment and help me to figure out ways to cope.  Anger was ruling my heart.  As I have watched the news over the last several days, I see that our culture has reached that same precipice.  We spew our anger without any sort of filter.  It’s like shooting a gun by saying, “Ready, FIRE, Aim.”  Day after day I’m seeing posts, news reporting, and talking heads and we are volcanic with our words.

“How do I change this?” I asked.  I had told a counselor about my emotions, the choices I had made, and the words I found coming out of my mouth.  He gave me an image that has been in my office ever since.

You can’t have it both ways when it comes to gas/oil products…..

Happy Friday everybody!

So, we again are here to hopefully educate everyone just a little more about why we need pipelines…..

A lot of people assume that because of my beliefs in alternative/natural medicine, rescuing animals, my thoughts on the environment that I am against anything that would affect the earth…..welllllll, I’ve got news for you there…..  I totally believe that we should be using more alternative/natural medicine, eating organic and non-gmo foods, saving trees and the environment to the best of our abilities.  BUT, we HAVE TO HAVE pipelines!  As I have said before, I have been a part of the natural gas/oil industry for many years and know how it works.  Do I want them to do it safely with as little impact as possible?  ABSOLUTELY!  It literally takes yearrrrs for one to be approved by the government.  They have to just through so many hoops and so much red tape it’s not even funny.  They do everything they possibly can to make sure they do as little damage to the environment as possible, all in order to bring us all the necessities in life that most people cannot live without……me being one of those that cannot live without many many maaaaaany of these products.

Here’s a small list of things made from petroleum products or by-products…..

Makeup, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant, perfume, hair color, hair spray, contact lenses, lotion, sunscreen, shaving cream, razors, feminine products, diapers, computers, phones, printers, ink, televisions, gas, diesel, tires, antifreeze, asphalt, tar, motor oil, brake fluid, coolant, antihistamines, inhalers, aspirin, band aids, latex gloves, rubbing alcohol, syringes, anesthetics, cough syrup, artificial limbs, vitamins, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, fertilizer, food preservatives, plastic of all kinds, Styrofoam, fabric softener, Teflon coated products, appliances, furniture, sponges, cleaning products, water pipes, wiring insulation, linoleum, upholstery, carpet, vinyl, shingles, paint, toys, instrument strings, cameras, photos, sports equipment, life jackets, helmets, heating (natural gas/propane), cooling, electricity generation, polyester, nylon, rayon, elastic, shoes, kerosene, aviation fuels, diesel fuels, dyes, detergents, additives, oxygenates, anti-fungal compounds, grease, paraffin wax, tar, petroleum jelly, soap, capsules, synthetic fibers, CDs/DVDs, Candles, paint, shoe polish, roof shingles, ammonia, crayons, paper cups, wax paper, chewing gum, breath mints, sun glasses, lip gloss, solvents, cassettes, curtains, dashboards, putty, skis, tool racks, mops, umbrellas, denture adhesive, speakers, tennis rackets, nylon rope, combs, vaporizers, heart valves, enamel, dentures, fan belts, floor wax, sports car bodies, caulk, faucet washers, dyes, TV cabinets, car battery cases, yarn, toilet seats, rubber cement, wheels, luggage, balloons, pillows, artificial turf, models, film, golf balls, pens, boats, golf bags, basketballs, purses, rugs, epoxy, fishing rods, ice cube trays, electric blankets, trash bags, skates, awnings, ice chests, paint brushes, parachutes, dishes, folding doors, cleats, fishing lures, tape, clothesline, linings, oil filters, glycerin, dice, surf boards, shower curtains, safety glasses, eyeglasses, footballs, curlers, heating your home, etc…………………………….

This is no where near a complete list, and forgive me if I duplicated anything, but I wanted you to see at least an idea of all the things that have been invented because of the product(s) from these pipelines.  You can’t have it both ways.  Now, if you can live without all these things, then more power to you!  Awesome!  BUT, without pipelines we can’t have all these products.  Well, I guess we could if you wanted it transported via train (very dangerous) or semi (even more dangerous and a much bigger carbon footprint), but pipelines really are safer.  Yes there are accidents but they are not always the fault of the pipeline company.  Of all the alternatives, I would rather have a pipeline (I at one time had 5 in my backyard and never had an issue) than see it transported via train or semi.  Just my two cents….

If you do not agree, that’s ok.  I respect your opinion, and I hope you will respect mine.  We can just agree to disagree and we will just leave it at that, should that be the case.

Ok, off my soap box…..

Have a Happy Healthy Day and a wonderful weekend!!!!! 🙂

Read your ingredient labels!!!

Happy Wednesday y’all!

Yesterday I was perusing a catalog a friend gave me to check out, because it was full of organic products.  I was soooo excited to try a new product……for about a minute, unfortunately.  When I went online to check the ingredients, check out the prices and all the products they carry, my happy bubble was quickly burst.  Now, not alllll the products are what I personally consider unhealthy, but I was shocked at how many were full of unnecessary ingredients!!!  Since when do you need to have sugar in lemon pepper?  REALLY!  There were quite a few things that had sugar or a derivative of sugar or even both that sooooo didn’t need them!  Many of them had maltodextrin listed, which is not only a derivative of sugar, but is also a GMO, and is generally used as a filler.  A lot of the time, for many many people, when they eat products that contain sugar, they begin to crave products with sugar, therefore they buy more of that product, so does that mean they put sugar in it just so you’ll get addicted and buy more?  Who knows, it’s just a thought.  The moral of the story is that just because it’s organic does not necessarily mean it’s good for you.  It means no pesticides were used.  If it says “natural flavors”, put it down, if it says maltodextrin or anything that ends in “ose” (fructose, sucrose, dextrose), put it down, and as far as I’m concerned, at least 99.9% of the time, if it’s not a dessert, it does NOT need sugar in it of any kind!!  So if you really want to use healthier products, please, please, pllllllease read your labels!  You do not need all that garbage in there!  Ok, off my soap box.  😀

Thank you for taking the time to read this hopefully helpful rant!

Until next time, I hope you have a very happy healthy day!  😀
