I read an article recently about labels and it REALLY needs to be shared! I tell people all the time to READ YOUR LABELS before buying OR consuming!!!!!
Bad words on labels include: “made with”, “natural”, “lightly sweetened”, “low…..light…..reduced”, “free”, “high in fiber”. These are the bad words listed in the article, but there are so many others! One of them that isn’t in the article that I’d like to include is “no sugar added”. If you read the label, it has SOME form of sweetener that most likely is NOT healthy! One of my pups (she’s actually 11) is on medication twice a day, and the easiest way to get her to take it is with “flat” meat. Yep, we call it “flat meat”! lol I try to give my furry babies nothing but the best too, so when I saw that one of the lunch meat companies had “natural” uncured, nitrite/nitrate free lunch meats I was excited! That is, until I called them and asked what EXACTLY did “natural flavors” mean on the label. I was told that it only meant herbs and spices, that they did not use it (as many other companies do) to hide things like MSG and such. I asked if the herbs/spices were organic? Guess what? They said no. You know what that means? It means it is NOT natural! So, I no longer buy that brand. It pays to do your research people!
So, what do you think? Will you start reading your labels now? Will you try and pay better attention to what you’re putting in your body? Just by spending time reading labels and NOT buying things with bad ingredients can increase your health! Why not give it a try, it’s beneficial and could not only increase your health, you will most likely lose some weight too because you’re eating healthier! Join me in being an avid label reader!
