Homemade Bug Spray

Happy Wednesday everybody!

Today I want to share a recipe for making home made bug spray that’s chemical free…..

You will need:

2 oz of either Frankincense hydrosol OR filtered water

16 drops of Patchouli Essential Oil

10 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil

4 drops Spikenard Essential Oil

That’s it!  Pour hydrosol OR water into 2 oz. glass spray bottle, add all the drops, put the lid on, make a label and presto, you’re done!  Took all of 3 1/2 minutes to make!

There are other essential oils you can try instead of these, like eucalyptus, opopanax, juniper and you can also use peppermint hydrosol instead of frankincense.  This recipe is just one of many ways to utilize ways to use essential oils!

Eucalyptus Shower disks

Happy Sunday everybody!!!

I’ve been wanting to try to do this for a while, and it was soooo easy and took less than 10 minutes so I thought I’d share!

What you need:  glass bowl, fork, muffin pan or candy molds, air tight container, plastic wrap.


1-1/2 cups Baking Soda

2 Tbsp. Arrowroot powder OR cornstarch

2 Tbsp. and 1 Tsp. Water

3/4 tsp. Eucalyptus Essential oil (120 drops) or a smidge more

1/2 tsp. Peppermint Essential Oil

Mix ingredients together really really realllllllllllllllllly well, then scoop into muffin pan/tin (or candy molds) and press down really well.  Cover and let dry overnight.  Place in airtight container and use whenever it strikes your fancy!  🙂  Don’t place directly under the water or it’ll go away really fast, so off to the side so it melts slowly is best.

Chicken and noodle concoction

Happy Friday y’all!

Well, I decided to throw together whatever I could find today, and here is what it ended up being:

1 box organic noodles of your choice (mine was rotini because it’s what I had)
4 organic chicken breasts cut in cubes-sort of
soy sauce
Caesar dressing
1/2 carton organic vegetable broth

I cooked the noodles according to instructions…..

I put the cut up raw chicken in a pan with some Caesar dressing and cooking it through. Once done, I added the broth, huge spoonful of miso, teriyaki to taste, soy to taste, huge spoon garlic, huge spoon organic shallots, and let cook for a while, to thicken, I use arrowroot powder. Simmer for a little while. Pour over noodles. Yum! 😀

I just think things up as I go along. I don’t generally measure, it’s usually to taste. I hope you like it though!

UPDATE: It was yummy! My hubby added parmesan cheese (he puts it on pretty much everything 🙂 ) and said it was delicious! So that recipe will definitely be made again! 😀

Crockpot Chicken Recipe! :o)

Yep, I said y’all!  My Texas is showin’!  ha

A friend shared a recipe on Facebook and the idea sounded awesome, but I completely changed it other than a couple of ingredients because I had another idea and totally different direction to go with it.  Hope you like it and I hope we do too!  I’ve never made it and I don’t measure, so we’ll see……

4 chicken breasts cut into small pieces

1 can organic black beans

about a cup of unsweetened almond milk

1 entire box of organic broth (I used vegetable broth)

2 small cans diced organic Muir Glen tomatoes

2 huge cans crushed organic Muir Glen tomatoes

chopped garlic to your liking

1 can diced green chilis

about a tablespoon of basil

salt to taste

about a tablespoon of parsley just because

Put all of this in the crockpot and stir, cook until done (I’m going for at least 4- 4 1/2 hours)

In about 3 hours cook up some organic brown rice or rice of your choosing

break out the cheddar cheese (we use Tillamook Sharp Cheddar) and shred

My hubby will probably want parmesan too

Tortillas of your choice (or they might even be good in wonton, seaweed or eggroll wrappers!)

Take a tortilla, put a little rice on it, put some of the chicken concoction on it, add some cheese, roll up and enjoy!

That’s how I make things in my house.  I just think of something that sounds yummy and go for it.  I hope it’s good!  We’ll probably have a salad before hand to get our veggies in too.  If you don’t use the cheese and you go for gluten free rice/tortillas I think this would work as a gluten free recipe too.

What kind of sugar should you use to bake with?

Here is another great article from Vani at foodbabe.com about what kind of sugar is great to bake with. This one is for an oatmeal cookie that looks deeeelicious! I will be adding this recipe to my recipe box too! Make sure you let me know your thoughts on these if you make them. Like I said, I don’t bake often, so it’ll be a while before I try them, but rest assured I WILL be trying both recipes! YUMMY!
